Demonstration case study · Shopify skincare

Scattered product files in. A real catalog out.

Sable & Bloom had beautiful products and a backend held together by duplicate rows, unfinished descriptions, mystery image files, and hope. We turned the mess into 20 clean Shopify listings, six shoppable collections, and one upload-ready system.

01 · before we touched the folder

The products were there. The catalog was not.

The raw materials looked painfully familiar: product ideas, supplier details, partial copy, image folders, duplicate drafts, and no safe path from “almost finished” to Shopify upload.

01Product names written inconsistently

“gentle cleanser maybe,” “Botanical milk CLEANSER,” and “rose toner” all lived in the same sheet. The brand voice changed row by row.

02Duplicate and near-duplicate rows

Multiple versions of the same products appeared across drafts, with conflicting names, prices, images, and statuses.

03Missing SKUs and prices

Some products had three SKU formats. Others had none. Six listings were missing a usable price.

04Descriptions that said “finish later”

Supplier notes, half-sentences, placeholders, and one gloriously honest description that simply said “idk.”

05Categories customers could not shop

Cleansers lived under “skincare stuff.” Sheet masks lived under “face wash.” Treatments were scattered across unrelated folders.

06Images that did not match products

Files like IMG_4839-final-final.png and a folder called “use these ones I think” had to be matched to the right products.

07No collection structure

Twenty products existed, but there was no clear customer path through the catalog and no repeatable backend logic.

08No Shopify-ready CSV

Nothing was mapped safely for import. Every field needed to be cleaned, standardized, checked, and organized first.

02 · the inventory

The mess we actually found.

Not embarrassing. Not unusual. Just the real-world result of one founder being expected to create the products and somehow become a catalog department too.

“Beautiful brand. Backend held together with hope, caffeine, and a folder named final final maybe.”
— the situation
  • Product names written three different ways
  • Duplicate product rows from competing drafts
  • Prices missing on six listings
  • SKUs blank or formatted four different ways
  • Descriptions that said “finish later” or “idk”
  • Image names that explained absolutely nothing
  • No clear collection or category logic
  • Statuses marked active, draft, blank, or “maybe”

03 · what Send The Mess did

We turned the mess into one working system.

We reviewed the raw information, found what was missing, rebuilt the structure, wrote the customer-facing content, standardized the data, and prepared the catalog for Shopify.

01

Catalog audit

Mapped duplicates, missing fields, weak names, mismatched assets, and the rows that could not safely move forward.

02

Product organization

Structured 20 products with consistent fields, statuses, SKU logic, naming, and one clear backend home.

03

Collection strategy

Built six collections around how customers actually shop skincare—not how the folders happened to be named.

04

Naming cleanup

Clear, premium, consistent product names that fit the brand without turning every title into a tiny novel.

05

Description rewrites

Benefit-focused, brand-aligned copy with useful product details and no leftover “finish later” notes.

06

Shopify-ready delivery

Clean handles, mapped fields, image order guidance, collection logic, and an upload-ready catalog package.
